Story
Miko, a sweet Minnesota kitty is prone to life-threatening urinary blockages despite a prescription food diet designed to prevent crystals from forming and anti-anxiety medication. Miko has been hospitalized 4 times in the last year, being catheterized and his bladder flushed with Intravenous fluids to remove the debris so he can urinate freely.
Untreated urinary blockages can become deadly within 36-48 hours. After four blockages, the only permanent solution to SAVE Miko is Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) surgery, a surgical procedure that reconstructs the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. The surgery creates a larger opening in the urethra to allow urine to pass through more easily.
The surgery has been estimated between $3,147.43 and $3,372.43; however, at this point, Mikoβs mom, who served in the Army National Guard, has exhausted all her funds. She maxed out her Care Credit account and credit card, accumulating over $6,000 in debt for Mikoβs emergency medical bills. She is heartbroken that she can not afford her sweet boyβs surgery.
Mikoβs mom said, βMiko is a super lovey sweet cat. He doesnβt know personal space and loves to cuddle. He also never misses a meal. The second you get home, he demands to get carried around like a baby.β
Miko is only 5 years old; this surgery will ensure that he will never go through the trauma of hospitalization and catheterization ever again!
