Story
Maddie was diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. Maddie was hospitalized on Thursday and was being treated for her condition. Maddie's bloodwork had come back good however, she needed an additional 24 hours of IV fluids and medications. Maddie's veterinary costs were estimated to be up to $3,000.00.
Maddie's 85-year-old mom did not have the money to continue with her medical care as she is on a meager fixed income. A kind employee at the veterinary clinic where Maddie was being treated contacted us to see if we could help this sweet little old lady and her beloved pup.
Maddie was essential to her mom's mental and physical well-being. She kept Elda active with daily walks and was her sole companion. We could only help with 1/2 of Maddie's medical care with the funds left in our Emergency Fund. The veterinary clinic set up a payment plan for Maddie's mom for the balance.
Unfortunately, during the night, Maddie developed internal bleeding and needed a blood transfusion. Maddie's mom made the heartbreaking decision on Friday to let Maddie cross over the rainbow bridge. Not only has Elda lost her little Maddie, but she is also now facing $1,267.92 in unpaid veterinary costs.
We have exhausted our Emergency Fund resources and cannot help Elda pay off Maddie's balance. We have helped some other families this year who sadly lost their pets. However, they were not left with a financial burden. πΏ
