Story

Recently, the Emergency Fund was crucial in providing urgent medical care to Sergio, a Texas kitty in desperate need. Sergio had sustained a significant neck wound after wandering outside, and despite his mother's best efforts to clean and bandage the wound, it became infected, necessitating immediate veterinary attention.

Sergio's mother reached out to us for assistance. She was facing financial difficulties as she was not only caring for her mother, who was undergoing cancer treatment but also dealing with the mounting medical bills associated with her mother's condition. She was understandably concerned about the potential cost of Sergio's medical treatment.

At the time, we were already raising funds for Bella, a sick dog from Pennsylvania. However, recognizing the urgency of Sergio's situation, we allocated funds from the Emergency Fund to cover the expenses of taking Sergio to a veterinary hospital for an examination. The examination revealed that Sergio had a fever and a severely infected wound. Under sedation, his wound was carefully cleaned and treated, and he was administered antibiotics and pain medication. Thanks to these interventions, Sergio made a full recovery.

The Emergency Fund is an integral part of our mission. It enables us to provide immediate assistance to pets like Sergio when there is no time to launch a fundraising campaign.
