Story

Gizmo, the handsome Ohio kitty, needs corrective surgery for a severe Patellar Hyperplasia condition that has progressed with age. Without surgery, Gizmo will live in pain, and his mobility will be severely affected. Gizmo’s knee pops out of place, which causes him to limp, and he has difficulty jumping. Over time this will cause arthritis, decreased mobility, and joint pain as well. Once arthritis develops, it cannot be reversed. In addition, patellar luxation predisposes the knee to other injuries, especially torn cruciate ligaments. 

Gizmo’s mom cannot afford his expensive life-changing surgery. Gizmo is only a year and a half old; his prognosis is excellent if he gets his surgery done sooner rather than later. Surgery has been tentatively scheduled with a Specialist Surgeon for January 16, 2023, but only if we can raise enough funds. Surgery has been estimated at $4,621.51 - $5,776.89, and recovery time for surgery is usually three months.

If Gizmo doesn’t have surgery, he will need long-term pain medication for the rest of his life, which could be detrimental to his overall health and cause major organ damage.
