Story
Baby Winnie and his siblings were abandoned by their mother. Winnie’s siblings were found dead, but miraculously Winnie was still alive! He was in terrible shape, crusty mucus covered his little nose and eyes, and he was very frail. His rescuer took Winnie home and cleaned him up. Winnie was so young, his rescuer, and now forever, mom had to bottle feed him until he was old enough to eat canned food. She took Winnie to the vet, and he was treated with medications for his upper respiratory infection and eye condition; however, Winnie’s eyes have worsened over the past few weeks, and his veterinarian said his vision could not be saved.
Sadly, Winnie has gone blind. His mom said he gets around the house just fine; he is quite the spunky little guy. Though Winnie can’t see, it has not slowed him down! His veterinarian said that other than his eye condition Winnie is a healthy kitten and can live a long, happy life once his eyes are removed. Winnie is too small to have his surgery right now; he barely weighs 2 lbs, so his vet recommended waiting until Winnie gets a little bigger.
Winnie’s mom was able to pay for his initial exam and medications to treat his eyes; however, she cannot afford his surgery. We helped Winnie’s mom with funds from our Emergency Fund for his recheck visit last week and additional medications he needs to help with pain management, and eye drops to prevent his eyes from getting crusty. Winnie’s surgery has been estimated at $900.00.
Please, can you help baby Winnie live a long and happy life?
