WE ARE HELPING JAY GET BACK ON HIS PAWS!
An unfortunate accident left Jay, a 10-month-old kitten from Ohio, with an injury. While Jay’s mom was bringing in the groceries, Jay tried to sneak out the door.
Although his mom quickly closed the door, sadly, Jay’s paw got caught. Jay scurried away and hid; when his mom found him, he was unable to bear any weight on his back left leg.
Jay’s family is experiencing unexpected financial hardship and couldn’t afford to take Jay to the veterinary clinic. Jay’s dad was diagnosed with Lupus in January and hasn’t been able to work due to illness, and his mom had to give up her job to be her husband’s primary caregiver. They reached out to us to see if we could help.
Jay was examined and X-rays were taken yesterday; luckily, the X-rays revealed that Jay’s leg was not broken, but he had an infected wound on the back of his ankle. His wound was clipped and cleaned, and Jay was given antibiotics and pain medication.
Jay’s medical care cost $295.00, which may not be a large sum for some people, but it can be an impossible financial burden for low-income families. Jay’s veterinary care was not necessarily an emergency, but his condition could have rapidly escalated without the medical intervention he received.
