Story

A U.S. Army veteran’s cat has suffered severe injuries. Tommy Girl, a beloved furbaby from Kentucky, snuck outside, and when she returned home, she was limping. Her elderly dad rushed her to the urgent Vet, and x-rays revealed Tommy Girl’s left hip was dislocated. She was referred to an orthopedic specialty veterinary hospital for surgery. However, the earliest they could perform the surgery was after the new year, and Tommy Girl can’t wait that long!

With the help of the incredible and caring staff at the urgent Vet, they found another hospital that could get Tommy Girl in sooner. Unfortunately, it was over 40 miles away, and her dad could not make the long journey due to his poor vision. They continued to call other veterinary hospitals and were given the same disappointing news. Miraculously, an orthopedic surgeon heard of Tommy Girl’s plight and offered to evaluate Tommy Girl's condition and possibly do surgery by the end of this week! Sometimes, IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

The surgeon has reviewed Tommy Girl’s x-rays and recommended Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO), which has been estimated to cost $2,800.00. Tommy Girl’s dad lives on a meager disability benefit and can not afford his sweet girl’s surgery. Again, the urgent vet went above and beyond for this Veteran and his kitty by searching for nonprofit organizations to help, and luckily, they found us!

Tommy Girl was a pregnant stray kitten when her dad found her; he gave her a safe place to have her babies, and she was fixed once the kittens were weaned and found their furever homes.

Tommy Girl and her Dad have a special bond, and it is breaking his heart to see her struggle. Please help this veteran’s beloved furbaby get the surgery she desperately needs.

A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE FOR TOMMY GIRL! 🎄

We found a veterinary orthopedic surgeon who set aside time on his calendar to help this veteran's furbaby and could do the surgery on Friday. Time was of the essence to raise the funds to cover the cost. 🕕 We sent out an urgent plea this week for donations, and thanks to our wonderful, kind, and generous donors, we raised the entire amount for Tommy's surgery in just 3 days! 😽

Tommy Girl had surgery, and everything went well. Due to the severity of her injury, her surgeon said that her left leg may be slightly shorter than her right but should not pose any mobility problems in the future. Tommy Girl is recovering at home with her dad. She will be crated for 10 days and have limited activity for at least 6 weeks.

Her dad said, "She is doing so great; she's just been sitting around I let her sit with me with her little cone off and bought a couple of toy mice. I'm so happy she's happy, her whole demeanor has gotten better. I can never put into words what this means for us thank you so much."

DONATIONS SAVED TOMMY GIRL if she hadn't received this surgery, her dad would have had to make the heartbreaking decision to humanely euthanize her. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our donor angels for helping this very special furbaby. She means the world to her dad, and YOU changed Tommy Girls' world furever! 🌎

TOMMY GIRL IS HEALING WELL! 💗

Tommy Girl is doing well; she had a 3-week post-op check-up and her surgeon is happy with her progress. Tommy Girls's dad said, "She limps slightly but gets around fine. She is happy and comfortable."

DONATIONS SAVED THIS VETERAN'S KITTY! Without surgery, Tommy Girl would have been humanely euthanized.

We have another kitty this week, Momo from Arizona, who was diagnosed with Necrotizing myopathy (NM) a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness and atrophy. Momo‘s left femur bone was fractured from a slight fall jumping from the ottoman to the couch and he needs surgery ASAP!
