Nugget, a little pup from North Carolina, suffered a severe injury while out for a walk with her mom and furry companion. Without warning, Nugget leaped off the curb and into the path of an oncoming car. The car accidentally clipped Nugget's leg, causing her to yelp in pain. Her mom quickly pulled her back onto the sidewalk, but Nugget had sustained a significant injury to her leg.
Nuggetβs mom rushed her to the emergency clinic, and X-rays revealed that the bottom of her femur bone had snapped in two. Given the severity of the break, the veterinarian recommended amputating Nugget's leg. Nugget's mom was approved for $600.00 through care credit to cover the cost of the x-rays, examination, wound care, and medications, but that was the maximum she could borrow.
Nugget's mom, a single mother of two and a Navy veteran looking after two disabled adults, faces considerable challenges. Financially, the family is strained, and coming up with the $1500.00 needed for Nugget's surgery is simply beyond their means.
