Stony the kitten had surgery Monday June 14, 2021 to repair a diaphragmatic hernia. The surgery went well. Thank you to everyone that donated to save her life.

Stony, the California cat, needs your help. Typically, this fun-loving kitten would be the first to greet you at the front door, but a painful congenital disability keeps her from being her fun-loving self. Stony has a Peritoneal-Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia and needs surgery to repair it. The veterinarian said her prognosis is excellent if she gets the surgery soon.
Stonyโs mom wants to save her sweet kitten and help her get back to being the adventurous, curious, kindred spirit she once was. She has sold some of her own items just to pay for the initial vet appointments and does not qualify for care credit. Sheโs been calling for different estimates and asking every nonprofit she can find for help.
The estimate for this life-changing surgery is $4,500 to $6,555. As Stonyโs owner continues to shop around to find a comparably skilled surgeon who can do the surgery for less money, we feel more and more like this will be the total. Update:
The surgery was extremely complicated, Stonyโs intestines were wrapped around her heart and her pancreas and liver were in the same area as her heart. All of her organs were moved back into place and the hernia was closed successfully.
