Story
Pumpkin, the Pennsylvania kitty, was hiding, not eating and drinking, and having trouble going to the litter box. Pumpkin’s mom knew something was seriously wrong with her beloved orange kitty but did not have the funds for an emergency veterinary visit.
Pumpkin’s mom recently contacted us, and we helped Pumpkin get to an Emergency Veterinary Clinic ASAP! The veterinarian ran X-rays and bloodwork, and Pumpkin had a complete urinary blockage; time was of the essence. Pumpkin needed a urinary catheter placed to unblock his urethra.
We were already fundraising for another kitty that needed surgery; but had some funds in the Emergency Fund to pay for Pumpkin’s procedure and hospitalization. Pumpkin has a smaller bladder than normal and had protein in his urine. Pumpkin’s veterinarian recommended checking his urine every six months, and Pumpkin will need a prescription urinary diet for the rest of his life.
Pumpkin had a check-up last week and a urinalysis; Pumpkin has fully recovered!
His mom said, “I set aside money for his vaccinations and keep up with his regular care; it was the $3000 bill I would never be able to swing. I was so afraid there was a problem, and it was a big expense; I had limited funds. Thank you so much. We really are so thankful and blessed.”
Pumpkin’s total veterinary care cost was $3,184.62. The Emergency Fund is so vital to our mission. We do not always have time to fundraise for an emergency like Pumpkin. The Emergency Fund saved Pumpkin’s life!
