Story
Miko, a handsome boy from North Carolina, has several bad teeth. In 2022, Miko experienced a life-threatening urinary blockage and has since been on a prescription urinary canned food diet to prevent another blockage. While his soft food isn't inherently harmful for Mikoβs teeth, it lacks the same mechanical cleaning action as dry food, leading to increased plaque buildup and dental issues.
Miko requires dental surgery to remove some infected teeth and to undergo a thorough cleaning, estimated to cost between $900.68 and $1,020.68. Unfortunately, Mikoβs mom is low-income and receives government assistance after suffering a devastating back injury, which makes it impossible for her to find employment that accommodates her disability.
Miko's mom said, "Miko is our orange kitty who is quite the entertainment. He makes my daughter and I laugh on a daily basis and heβs very mischievous but also very sweet.β
At only 9 years old, Miko has no underlying conditions aside from his periodontal disease. This surgery will help ensure that Miko remains a happy and healthy kitty. Can you help handsome boy Miko live a good life?
MIKO HAD DENTAL SURGERY!
We helped with the cost of Miko's dental surgery on Tuesday to remove multiple decaying teeth. The surgery went well. He was given an antibiotic injection and sent home with pain medication.
Miko's surgery went well. He was given an antibiotic injection and sent home with pain medication. His mom said, "He was still drowsy from the anesthesia but really hungry once he got home, so I gave him a small amount of his urinary canned prescription diet food, and he scarfed it down. He seems good. He's acting like a brand-new cat. Seriously, he's been the sweetest cat. He seems so happy."
TODAY is Dentist Day! A day to highlight the importance of dental care for hoomans, but that applies to our pets, too! Proper dental care is significant to a pet's overall health. Abscessed or decaying teeth can cause bacteria in the mouth to enter the bloodstream, which can damage internal organs.
Because of our generous donors who donated to Miko's surgery cost, Miko has a happy, healthy mouth again! π¦· We will have more updates on Miko soon!
