REMEMBERING OUR ELIZABETH TODAY 12/19/1957 - 02/25/2018❤️
Elizabeth Hedges was a person that wanted to change the world for the better. Elizabeth founded For The Love Of Alex in 2013 after one of her kitties, Alex, became sick and needed urgent surgery to remove painful bladder stones.
Elizabeth had the financial means to pay for Alex's surgery; however, while checking out at the veterinary hospital with Alex by her side, Elizabeth was struck with a life-changing understanding. What would have happened to Alex if she couldn't afford his medical care?
Elizabeth loved her furbabies, and she was horrified by the thought that other loving and responsible pet owners had no other option than to euthanize or surrender their pets to a shelter due to financial hardship.
Elizabeth wanted to make a change; she invested her savings into starting FTLOA while holding down a full-time corporate executive position. For the next five years, Elizabeth worked tirelessly around the clock, saving lives by reaching out to animal lovers like you to build an army called "Alex's Angels." 😇
Today, you are one of Alex's Angels; your donations have saved hundreds of pets from an unhappy outcome. As FTLOA's 10th Anniversary is fast approaching, we hope that Elizabeth is proud of what has been accomplished and that she and her beloved Alex are looking down, watching all the good that Elizabeth created to make the world a better place.
One of our donors recently shared Elizabeth's quote: “I THINK YOU'RE BORN WITH IT...The inherent understanding is that life and love is precious, that we are all on the same journey, and that we need each other. That our role was intended to be guardian, companion, protector...not a destroyer." - Elizabeth 1/28/16
Thank you, Elizabeth. May you rest in peace. 💕
