MEET EUGENE, THE CHONKY BOI 😻

Eugene's dad recently contacted us from rural Victoria, Australia. Eugene had been hit by a car; his pelvis was fractured, he lost the use of his front leg, and he had an abdominal hernia. Surgery to repair Eugene's broken body was estimated at $5,0000 - 10,000 Australian dollars (US. $3,367.91 - 6735.37.) His dad could not afford the surgery and was advised to euthanize his beloved Eugene. 😿

Eugene's dad was not going to give up on his boy! Sadly, we could not help them, but we offered advice on contacting his local shelter to see if they knew of any nonprofit organizations in Australia that could help. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

The good news is they found someone to help! Eugene was transported to a Veterinary Specialist Hospital in North Melbourne, 4.5 hours away. Eugene had surgery to repair the hernia, and a plate and pins were put in his leg and pelvis; however, he may lose his front leg if the nerve doesn't recover.

Eugene's dad said, "On behalf of us and Eugene the chonky boi, we thank you for the help and advice. Thank you for replying, and appreciate the fact you got back to me even though you're in the US!"

Eugene has a long road to recovery, but he is doing good. His dad said he would stay in touch and let us know how Eugene is doing. GET WELL SOON, EUGENE. πŸ’•

It is heartbreaking that so many beloved pets are euthanized daily due to financial hardship. We are a small nonprofit, and we do not have the funds or labor to expand to help pets and families worldwide, but we want that to CHANGE. With your support, we can do this! 🌎
