Poor Khaleesi cannot get a break!

Poor Khaleesi cannot get a break!

Khaleesi had lost a lot of weight, diagnostic testing confirmed she is diabetic. Khaleesi is still struggling to get her glucose levels under control after 3 months! She has blood glucose checks at the veterinary clinic every two weeks, she has insulin twice a day, and is on a special diabetic diet. The vet shaved an area on Khaleesi's back to make it easier for her mom to give her the insulin injections. Khaleesi's cost for insulin and food is approximately $150 a month. Khaleesi's mom is disabled and on social security, she called us frantically last week because she is afraid for Khaleesi's future.😿

Without continued help from FTLOA, she will not be able to afford Khaleesi's expensive food & medications. If you can help us continue with Khaleesi's medical care please donate today.

Alex Miley has a diagnosis

Alex Miley has a diagnosis, however he needs further diagnostic testing.

Alex Miley was very sick, his stomach was distended, and he had very loose stools. Diagnostic testing confirmed he has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), one of the most common and consequential infectious diseases of cats worldwide. FIV attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to other infections. This is devastating news for everyone; however, FIV can be managed with antiviral therapy, fluid therapy, and diet changes. On average, a cat can live an additional five years with treatment.

Alex's other bloodwork came back within normal ranges, which is good; however, his vet was concerned with the fluid in his abdomen and recommended he see an internal specialist. Alex has an appointment on May 2. We will have more updates soon.

Perseus received the medical care he needed because of your generosity!

Upon examination the treating veterinarian opted to drained the fluid from Perseus hematoma and treat his ear topically. He was also sent home with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. A cytology was taken to see what was causing Perseus to shake and scratch at his ears so much that it caused the hematoma. The treatment seems to have resolved the issue, however he is being monitored by his veterinarian to make sure the hematoma doesn't return, if it returns Perseus will need surgery. Prayers that this handsome boy makes a full recovery.
