ROCKET, THE MIRACLE KITTY NEEDED OUR HELP AGAIN.πΏ
Rocket's mom contacted us last week; she was worried that one of Rocket's pins from his surgery in his back right ankle was poking through his skin!!!
Rocket had been badly injured last November after escaping outside. Rocket endured weeks of wound treatments and battled a nasty infection. Once he was stable enough, he had two surgeries. Due to the severity of his injuries, his front leg was amputated, and his back right ankle was fractured and had two pins placed to hold the joint in place.
We helped Rocket get into an appointment with his surgeon ASAP! X-rays showed that one of his pins that was placed from his second surgery had migrated and needed to be surgically removed. This poor furbaby went under the knife again.
One pin was removed, and the other was shortened to avoid protruding through the skin. Rocket's surgeon said, "Everything inside and out looks great!" Rocket will have 10-14 days of restricted activity to allow the incision area to heal.
Rocket has picked up a lot of weight since November, and his veterinarian has recommended he lose a few pounds, which will also help with his joint health. This brave kitty has been through a lot; he has fought and won against all odds. This brave kitty has been through a lot; he has fought and won against all odds. He truly is a MIRACLE KITTY!
We will have more updates on Rocket soon!
Rocket's exam, x-rays, and surgery totaled $1512.99; we used funds from the Emergency Fund to pay for his veterinary care. The Emergency Fund is vital to our mission; it helps pets like Rocket get the urgent medical care they need when there is no time to fundraise.
