Ahi had his dental surgery!π½
Ahi had his long-awaited dental surgery on Friday. Ahi had eight teeth extracted and a thorough cleaning. Because Ahi is diabetic, he was given additional IV fluids and medications to keep his glucose level stable. Ahi was discharged later that day. However, Ahiβs mom contacted us on Monday; Ahi wasnβt eating or drinking and was concerned because he needed to eat to have his insulin injection.
We helped with a recheck visit at the veterinary hospital, and they gave Ahi subcutaneous fluids for dehydration, a Cerenia injection for nausea, a pain injection, and an appetite stimulant. Within a few hours, Ahi began to eat a little bit. Mom called with an update, and Ahi is doing much better; he is eating well and seems much happier. Ahi will have a follow-up appointment 10 days post-op.
Ahiβs total veterinary care to date is $2,192.61. Thank you to our incredible donors who helped this handsome kitty, because of your generosity and compassion, Ahi received a diagnosis and the veterinary care he needed to live a long and good quality of life!
