Melobrown, a sweet 5-year-old Nebraska kitty, was diagnosed with Stomatitis, and he needed surgery to extract all of his teeth. Melo's veterinarian estimated the cost to be around $2500.00. Melo's mom is a single parent; she makes a small income that barely covers the bills. She contacted us last month to see if we could help.
Unfortunately, we were already fundraising for Rocket's second surgery and Pete's dental surgery. Luckily, we raised funds on Giving Tuesday, and we were able to help Melo get the surgery he needed. The surgery went well; however, his veterinarian found severe ulcers in the back of Melo's throat (a painful symptom of Stomatitis). Melo had a few rough days post-op, but his mom said he is doing great; he is back to eating, and he seems so much happier.
The Emergency Fund helped Melo; we can't individually fundraise for every pet we help, and that's why the Emergency Fund is vital to our mission.
