Charlie The Dog

We helped Charlie back in February with a tumor removal and dental cleaning. Charlie was diagnosed with Epulis Masses; which can be benign or malignant, however even a benign epulis can cause a lot of trouble. This type of tumor can be “locally invasive,” which means that it can grow into the jaw bone and literally eat the bone away.

Story

We helped Charlie back in February with a tumor removal and dental cleaning. Charlie was diagnosed with Epulis Masses; which can be benign or malignant, however even a benign epulis can cause a lot of trouble. This type of tumor can be “locally invasive,” which means that it can grow into the jaw bone and literally eat the bone away.

Charlie’s mom had secured funding from two other nonprofits; 4 Paws Love and The Mosby Foundation but fell short a few hundred dollars for Charlie’s surgery. She contacted us to see if we could help with the balance. We had some funds available in the Emergency Fund and Charlie had surgery. The tumor was removed and it had grown extensively to the size of a marble.

The tumor was sent to the laboratory for testing and the pathology results revealed that Charlie had an aggressive form of cancer called Amelanotic Melanoma. Sadly, Charlie’s health started to decline and his mom made the heart breaking decision to lay Charlie down to sleep. Charlie crossed over the rainbow bridge with his devoted mom by his side on May 1, 2024, he was 7 years old.

Charlie’s mom is heart broken; she lost her husband in 2016 and her beloved dog Cooper a few months later. Charlie brought sunshine back into her life. Rest in Peace, Charlie. (2017-2024).

The Emergency Fund provides assistance wherever it is needed. Some pet parents only require a few hundred dollars to settle a veterinary bill balance, while others may need support to cover the entire cost of emergency surgery. The Emergency Fund is crucial for us to uphold our mission of giving pets a second chance. Your help can make a significant difference today with a donation.
