THIS IS SUCH A SAD STORY!💔

Precious, the Colorado kitty, has had a hard start to life; she was found lying on the side of the road with a broken pelvis. A loving, forever family rescued Precious, and she fully recovered from her injury. However, this tiny baby has a congenital disability where she is missing a part of the roof of her mouth, causing her chronic nasal and eye infections. As Precious has grown, her condition has become increasingly worse, and every month, Precious becomes very sick. Precious has been treated with multiple antibiotics and antiviral medications; the drugs help temporarily, but surgery was recommended.

Precious was referred to a specialist, we paid for an exam and she was sedated so that the Veterinary Specialist Team could examine her thoroughly. Sadly, surgery is not an option, Precious has no soft palate, and her entire upper respiratory system is deformed. Her mom is heartbroken. 💔

We will help Precious and her mom with any arrangements. Our Emergency Fund helps pets like Precious. Though this is not the outcome we had hoped for, her Mom got the answers she needed; and she has the support from our community of animal lovers who feel her sorrow. 😿

Precious's Mom wrote sent a heartfelt message that she would like us to share with you:

“Precious was found on the side of the road 5 Miles outside of town. We spotted her, pulled over, and she limped right up to us. Just a tiny little thing she couldn’t have weighed more than a pound. At that moment .. she had a forever home. She was taken to the vet and it turned out to be a broken pelvis. At that time they told us about congenital abnormalities. Her face is smashed in, she is tiny at full grown age she weighs 3.4 lbs, and we knew there was trouble with her palate but until recently we didn’t know what that trouble was.

For the love of Alex Inc; helped us pay for a vet visit to get a good look after she started having severe infections that were draining from her eye and nose. They were able to sedate her and we learned she has no soft palate, no nasal drainage in the back of her throat, and her larynx didn’t form correctly. Unfortunately, there is no fix for a missing soft palate. We haven’t said goodbye yet but her prognosis isn’t good.

Please, please know babies like precious deserve love too! She has been the light of my life while we’ve had her and I would never ever change my mind about bringing her home. We have given her all the love in the world while she’s been here. She eats off the edge of dad’s plate, sleeps behind mom’s knees in bed, and hangs out making friends with the baby chicks we raise while they are in the house. Her favorite food is CHICKEN so it’s silly how much she loves them before she eats them. She purrs and loves and plays when she feels well just like any other kitty.

We will always be grateful for the small 18 months we have had so far with this PRECIOUS little kitty.”
