KEEP YOUR PET SAFE THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! ๐บ๐ธ
Memorial Day weekend is filled with fun, festive celebrations with your loved ones, including your furry best friends. And with many of these celebrations and events taking place outside (including backyard BBQs), itโs important to consider holiday pet safety.
Here are a few tips for keeping your pet safe:
๐Protect your pet from the sun; provide adequate shade.
๐งKeep your pet hydrated. Make sure your pet has access to cool fresh water at all times.
๐พ Protect your pet's paws from hot pavement. Apply a pet-approved protective wax or booties.
๐ Keep your pet calm during fireworks and other loud noises. Provide a quiet space inside your home with your pet's favorite blanket or toy.
๐ Make sure your pet is microchipped and has a collar with your contact information in case your pet escapes and becomes lost.
๐Avoid feeding your pet human food. Eating new and strange food can cause digestive upset in dogs and cats, triggering vomiting and diarrhea. Some human food is downright toxic to petsโincluding large amounts of chocolate and processed foods sweetened with xylitol.
๐ฉโ๐ณ Keep your pet away from the barbecue grill, grilling essentials, like charcoal, lighter fluid, matches, lighters, and wood or metal skewers used for kebabs, can be toxic if ingested.
