SWEET LOKI IS NOT DOING WELL AGAIN. 😿

We have helped Loki with some on-and-off digestive issues since June 2022. Loki has seen two different veterinarians and received treatment for her symptoms. Loki seems to recover; however, every few months, Loki starts losing weight and vomiting again.

We were fundraising this week for Sabiya, the kitty with Pancreatitis who needed hospitalization, so we used the Emergency Fund to get Loki into a Specialist Veterinary Clinic for diagnostic testing.

X-rays ruled out an obstruction. However, the bloodwork showed that Loki's body is not absorbing protein properly, a condition called Protein Losing Enteropathy. Loki was given Cerenia for vomiting; she will be on a low dose of prednisone and a high-protein diet for the rest of her life. We hope this new approach to her medical issues will help this sweet girl live a good quality of life. We will have updates on Loki soon.

The Emergency Fund is vital to our mission; it helps pay for urgent veterinary care when we do not have time to fundraise. It also helps pay veterinary bills when we have not raised enough to cover the entire cost of surgery, treatments, and follow-up appointments for pets we previously helped.
