HAWI HAD A SMALL SETBACK! πΏ
We helped Hawi a few weeks ago with the cost of his bladder stone removal surgery. Hawi had been struggling for months despite being on a prescription diet that helps dissolve bladder stones, however; Hawi's stones did not dissolve.
7 jagged stones were removed from his bladder and Hawi appeared to be doing well post-op. However, his mom contacted us on Monday as Hawi was again urinating outside the litter box.
He had a recheck examination and an X-ray; the good news is the X-ray showed no new stones had formed. His veterinarian could not obtain a clean urine sample from Hawi, but suspected he has a urinary tract infection. π
Hawi's veterinarian said this is not uncommon; often when the urethra has been inflamed and irritated for a long period of time it takes time to fully heal. Hawi was given oral antibiotics for 10 days and will have a recheck exam in two weeks. We will have more updates on Hawi soon!
The Emergency Fund helped with the cost of Hawi's medical care. The Emergency Fund plays a crucial role in providing a safety net for pets like Hawi that need additional post-operative care.
