WE HAVE SOME VERY SAD NEWSπ
Loki, a kitty we have been helping with digestive issues for quite some time, passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge with her mom by her side.
We first met Loki and her mom in 2022; Loki was lethargic, vomiting, and frequenting the litter box. Diagnostic tests were run, and Loki was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and was hospitalized for treatment and made a full recovery.
However, in 2023, Loki's symptoms returned, and the bloodwork showed that Loki's body was not absorbing protein properly, a condition called protein-losing enteropathy. A condition where the body loses too many proteins through the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Loki was prescribed daily medications and a high-protein diet, and it seemed to maintain her condition.
A few weeks ago, Loki became extremely sick; the medications were not helping, and she could no longer keep food down and was fading fast. An X-ray showed that Loki had a mass in her stomach. Given her age and her physical condition, her mom made the heart-wrenching but necessary decision to let her go. We helped with the arrangements, and Loki passed peacefully.
Please keep Loki's mom in your thoughts and prayers, this was an extremely hard decision for her. Loki's mom is disabled and lives alone. Loki was her sleeping buddy and will be dearly missed.
RIP Sweet Loki 2010-2024.
