TOASTY'S SURGERY DID NOT GO AS PLANNED!π
Toasty had surgery on Tuesday to remove a growth from the back of his right wrist that was painful to touch and caused him to limp. Unfortunately, once in surgery, his veterinary surgeon found that the growth was wrapped around a tendon. Toasty's surgeon was able to remove a large portion of the growth to send to the laboratory for analysis; however, she could not remove it entirely.
Toasty's surgeon is hopeful that the growth is scar tissue from his previous injury in April. The biopsy results will take up to 10 days. The biopsy results will determine the right course of treatment/surgery for Toasty moving forward.
Though this is somewhat disappointing news, Toasty's mom said, "He is doing well; despite challenges with the cone, he is putting weight on the leg! He did have a little upset stomach once he was home due to the anesthesia. When I rescued Toasty, he had severe digestive issues it took 6 months before he showed any regular bowels."
Toasty's mom diligently tried a variety of kibble; however, a bland diet of homemade boiled chicken, brown rice and vegetables has resolved his tummy issues. We will have more updates on Toasty soon!
