Story

The Emergency Fund recently helped a handsome pup from New Hampshire. Mance was diagnosed with Lyme and Anaplasmosis disease; tick-borne diseases that can affect dogs and have similar symptoms. Both diseases can cause lethargy, pain, and fever. Anaplasmosis can also cause limping, joint pain, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, and sneezing. Anaplasmosis is an infectious but not contagious disease. Dogs with Lyme and Anaplasmosis disease when treated early generally live normal lifespans. If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause kidney failure, which can be life-threatening.

Mance’s mom is disabled and a cancer survivor. Her disability income is limited and she could not afford his treatment and prescription preventative medication to repel ticks. She said, β€œBreast Cancer turns one’s world upside down physically, emotionally, and financially. Mance is a very sweet boy and means the world to me. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• Thank you so much for considering Mance’s application.”

We used funds from our Emergency Fund to help Mance. He was treated with Doxycycline for four weeks and prescribed Simparica Trio as a preventative.

The Emergency Fund steps in when a pet parent is having a difficult time and needs a few hundred dollars to get their furbaby the medication they need to live long and healthy lives. The Emergency Fund is vital to our mission. Please consider donating to the Emergency Fund today to help more pets in 2024.

Your contribution will make all the difference in giving these furry friends the care they deserve.
