Story
Gimpy, the Illinois kitty, has had a rough start to life; as a tiny kitten, she was attacked by a dog and hurt her back leg. Gimpy was rescued from that environment and immediately taken to a veterinarian. X-rays showed her leg had broken for quite some time.
Gimpyβs rescuer and forever mom could not afford her surgery; Gimpyβs veterinarian splinted the leg and treated her with pain medications. We helped Gimpyβs mom with the cost of a follow-up appointment and x-rays, and her leg has not healed correctly. Gimpyβs veterinarian recommends amputating the leg. The surgery has been estimated to be over $2,000.00.
This sweet furbaby finally has a safe place to call home, and her mom has done all she can to try and nurse Gimpyβs leg back to health, but it's now apparent that amputation surgery is the only option for Gimpy to live a long and pain-free life.
Gimpyβs mom said, βThe most special thing about this little girl is her absolute love for anyone she meets. She is such a character with a big heart. I would go to the ends of the earth and back for her.β
