If you love animals, you know they think, they feel, they love and they hurt much like we do.  No they are not "human", but their lives matter. The information on this page represents remarkable examples we found on the web.

This is very sad and therefore tough to watch, but what an example of love and loss in the animal world:

This heroic video of a dog risking his or her life to save another dog on a busy freeway is described as amazing, but knowing that animals have heart, mind and spirit, it is after all how we would feel if another person needed help. Click to watch:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN866RAiTVU

I used to have a cat named Tom who waited at the front window every day for me to return from work. I could see his little face peering between the parted curtains. The moment he spotted my car I would see him race off to greet me at the back door. Sadly, I lost him to cancer when he was just three, and though many years have passed, still miss that little guy. Animals' unwavering love is based on all the right things. We can learn from them. Hachiko's story is one of many such examples. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFCSlCewBsI

This story about a beautiful cat named Ugly is well worth the watch:
